With New Vegas' system that splits the damage evenly over the number of projectiles, including any waterfowl, birdshot, or smaller buckshot would be very much pointless. Consider that any sizes smaller than 000 would have much more than 7 pellets in real life - for example, size T shot would have about 34 pellets. The new buckshot projectile is actually approximately the size of 000 buckshot, which is probably about the right size considering New Vegas' shotguns fire 7 projectiles by default ( other than the Sawed-Off Shotgun/Big Boomer see Optional Files below). This means that there is also a new projectile for buckshot, which previously used the BB projectile.

This perk also comes with a small permanent boost to both accuracy with Guns and hull/case recovery chance.Įvery single shotgun ammo type now has an accurate projectile model for use in those bullet-cam VATS moments and/or for anyone who has another mod that adds bullet time or something similar. The higher tier (Hollow Point Slug and Double Slug) require a new perk called Ballistics Expert. The lower tier (including Tri-Ball and Nail Shot) is unlocked with the existing Hand Loader perk. Hand load recipes are now in two distinct tiers. It requires considerable skill and greater amounts of powder & lead to create the most powerful hand load types included in the mod. With this in mind, many hand load recipes have also been rebalanced. there are no extremely good ammo types with no drawbacks or trade-offs. The goal of balancing was to ensure that none of the ammo types can be considered totally useless, i.e. It gives the player a number of factors to consider when choosing what ammo type to use. These effects are based partially on what the load would do in real life, but with balancing in mind. Some types also have an effect on enemy DT. It also rebalances the base game shotgun ammo types in order to fit them into the new balancing scheme. This mod adds a variety of new ammo types for shotguns (12 gauge and 20 gauge). If you do not wish to use that mod, go check out More Shotgun Ammo with 20 Gauge GRA Ammo instead, which contains lots of the same content from this mod, but none of the rebalancing.
